December 28, 2010 by   , Filed under: Diet Health and Fitness

Did you know that weight loss is one of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions made by people allover the globe. However, although it is sworn and endeavored with good intentions the  resolution of weight loss is often abandoned before any progress or results are made. Too many people give up the battle of the bulge, and although they may stick to it and lose a few pounds at first, usually the permanent lifestyle of eating healthy and exercising is forgotten and forsaken before too long,  just as the year before them that passed.

So how about making a new and meaningful resolution this year? One that you will be capable of sticking to,one that will supply you with the results that you desire, and one that may be a change for long term health benefits. Here are some tips for making your resolution stick effectively:

  • Try It Slowly: Usually when a person makes a resolution of weight loss, they do it with full force and gumption. This is good as the motivation and inspiration is there, however it can become tiring for you to keep it up for vast periods and often trying too hard can make it a failure before too long. Try to plot out your course, try a nutritious diet, break yourself into exercise slowly, and learn to make better choices in regards to your health, and you may find that you stick to them longer than you would if you starve yourself, and workout to death.
  • Keep A Journal: Many times journaling your feelings, goals, and progress can help you stay focused on where you have been and where you want to be. Try keeping a journal of your weight loss routine. Write down the foods you eat, how much you exercise, and even when you are feeling hungry, wanting to cheat, not wanting to exercise, and when you feel like you are doing great. You can use this as a guide to see what helps you to make more progress, and to see the results as you progress. It will also encourage you not to quit, if you write motivational quotes in it, and use it as a tool.
  • Make It A Lifestyle: Rather than making weight loss a temporary solution, how about making it a permanent lifestyle change to last all year. This mind frame is a good one to have. In order to implement this type of mind set, you must try to think of your diet and exercise routine as a lifestyle change, a permanent solution. This is accomplished by learning about food choices, and becoming more active. Most people who are successful at weight loss are those who maintain their weight loss after they have resumed their normal life. if your normal life entails healthy eating and exercise habits you will be less likely to fail, and you will experience long-term success.

If you follow your New Year’s Resolution with a faithful heart, you will be more likely to succeed. You need to do more than just make one though in order for it to work effectively for you. Think, act, and enable it to supply you the results you want.  Try these tips listed above, and you will  find that this year your weight loss and health will benefit more so than any other year you have tried the weight loss resolution scheme.
